Mac Cluster Computer


Mac cluster combine the high-performance dual 64-bit G5 processor with the robust, UNIX-based Mac OS X Server operating system to make the Mac Cluster a powerful and flexible. It is the distributed memory system with 5500 GB supplementary memory and Storage Area Network (SAN), that makes the system capable for high-load computing, especially for bioinformatics. Moreover, HPC@B provides iNquiry by the BioTeam for instant access to more than 170 bioinformatics applications for sequence alignment, phylogenetic analysis and other common domains.

The Mac Computing Resource consists of 4 clusters, each cluster has 10 dual processor systems. The basic architecture of the Mac Computing Resource is shown below.

Sun High Performance Server


The sun microsystem computing resource is a shared memory system, it is suitable for sequential computation that need high memory for computation. The system is connected by the high speed network called Storage Area Network (T3 SAN) with 1000 GB supplementary memory and L180 backup system.
